After testing products from Project Healthy Living, Inc., individually and dba Aloha(Aloha), we found 23 products we allege to be in violation of Proposition 65 in regards to heavy metal contamination. Below is the timeline of events of the case between ERC and Aloha.


NOTICE I

On March 21, 2024, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against Aloha.

In this action, ERC alleges that 5 specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by Aloha, contain lead, mercury, and cadmium, chemicals listed under Proposition 65 as carcinogens and reproductive toxins, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning. 

The products under investigation are:

  1. Aloha Chocolate Caramel Pecan Plant-Based Protein – Lead

  2. Aloha Organic Protein Powder Chocolate Flavored Plant-Based Protein - Lead

  3. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Mini Coconut Chocolate Almond Plant-Based Protein - Lead

  4. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Vanilla Almond Crunch Plant-Based Protein – Lead, Mercury

  5. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Chocolate Mint Plant-Based Protein – Lead, Mercury, Cadmium


NOTICE II

On April 10, 2024, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against Aloha.

In this action, ERC alleges that 7 specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by Aloha, contain lead and cadmium, chemicals listed under Proposition 65 as carcinogens and reproductive toxins, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning. 

The products under investigation are:

  1. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Plant-Based Protein - Lead

  2. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Chocolate Fudge Brownie Plant-Based Protein – Lead, Cadmium

  3. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Coconut Chocolate Almond Plant-Based Protein - Lead

  4. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Plant-Based Protein – Lead, Cadmium

  5. Aloha Limited Edition Organic Protein Bar Maple Sea Salt Plant-Based Protein - Lead

  6. Aloha Limited Edition Organic Protein Bar Peppermint White Chocolate Plant-Based Protein - Lead

  7. Aloha Special Edition Organic Protein Bar The Kona Bar Plant-Based Protein - Lead


NOTICE III

On April 24, 2024, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against Aloha.

In this action, ERC alleges that 6 specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by Aloha, contain lead and cadmium, chemicals listed under Proposition 65 as carcinogens and reproductive toxins, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning. 

The products under investigation are:

  1. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Mini Peanut Butter Cup Plant-Based Protein - Lead

  2. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Mini Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – Lead

  3. Aloha Limited Edition Organic Protein Bar Pumpkin Spice Plant-Based Protein - Lead

  4. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Lemon Cashew Plant-Based Protein – Lead

  5. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Chocolate Espresso Plant-Based Protein – Lead, Cadmium

  6. Aloha Organic Protein Bar Peanut Butter Cup Plant-Based Protein - Mercury


NOTICE IV

On October 4, 2024, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against Project Healthy Living, Inc., individually and dba Aloha.

In this action, ERC alleges that 2 specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by Aloha, contain Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA), a chemical listed under Proposition 65 as a carcinogen and reproductive toxin, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning. 

The products under investigation are:

  1. Aloha Organic Protein Powder Chocolate Flavored Plant-Based Protein - Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA)

  2. Aloha Organic Protein Powder Vanilla Flavored Plant-Based Protein - Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA)


NOTICE V

On November 1, 2024, the Environmental Research Center filed a Notice of Violation of California Law Proposition 65, against Project Healthy Living, Inc., individually and dba Aloha.

In this action, ERC alleges that 3 specific products, manufactured, distributed, or sold by Aloha, contain Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS), chemicals listed under Proposition 65 as carcinogens and reproductive toxins, and expose consumers to levels requiring a Proposition 65 warning. 

The products under investigation are:

1. Aloha Organic Protein Drink Coconut Plant-Based Protein - Lead, Mercury, Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA)

2. Aloha Organic Protein Drink Vanilla Flavored Plant-Based Protein – Lead, Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA)

3. Aloha Organic Protein Drink Chocolate Sea Salt Flavored Plant-Based Protein – Lead, Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA), Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS)
