Featured News: Trash Barriers
We know that the flood of plastic waste is one that must be tackled at the tap. We have to turn off the source of plastic waste to really get any headway in tackling the bigger problem and destruction of marine ecosystems. Microplastics in our ground water and our food both steam, in part, from the waste that we dump into the rivers, streams and oceans. Even so, there also needs to be an effort to clean up the waste we’ve already dumped into our water ways. One way technique being used to tackle this issue is river-anchored trash barriers. These barriers are being used to stop waste from continuing in its journey downstream and eventually reaching the ocean. Instead, there is the attempt to remove the waste from where it typically bottlenecks in particularly dirty rivers and streams. Check out the video below to learn more about this ocean clean up technique.
